Mustang 1994-1995 Export Taillight Harness Information
Comparison to US Harness
Since I had an export tail light harness, I was able to compare the wiring of each and compare them. Here's a general summary:
The Japanese harness has 5 wires, not 4 like the US one. You will need to buy a two-wire socket (same style as the brake lights) to add a new bulb. The Japanese wires are:
Left harness:
Light Green w/ Orange stripe (LG/O) -- left turn signal
Red w/ Light Green stripe (R/LG) -- brake light
Black w/ Pink stripe (BK/PK) -- reverse light
Brown (BR) -- exterior lights (lit when headlights are on)
Black (BK) -- ground
Right harness:
Orange w/ Light Blue stripe (O/LB) -- right turn signal
Red w/ Light Green stripe (R/LG) -- same as left
Black w/ Pink stripe (BK/PK) -- same as left
Brown (BR) -- same as left
Black (BK) -- same as left
Differences
The US harness is missing the R/LG wire; the brake and turn signal are both put in the LG/O & O/LB wires. This can be stopped by cutting a wire behind the driver's kick panel. The
instructions for the 96-98 tail light harness give a good description of how to modify the 94-95 harness, though we only need one more bulb.
Wiring to each bulb on the Japanese harness:
Small corner light: BR & BK (same as US)
Reverse light: BK/PK & BK (same as US)
Turn signal bulb: LG/O & BK (right is O/LB & BK)
2 Brake bulbs: R/LG, BR & BK
Wiring on the US harness:
Small corner light: BR & BK
Reverse light: BK/PK & BK
2 Brake/Turn Signal bulbs: LG/O, BR & BK (right is O/LB, BR & BK)

TL;DR
Remember, I have an export harness so I have not had to modify a US harness to work with the export tails. Modify at your own risk. But, I'll give you my best guess. If you cut the Light Green w/ Orange stripe (LG/O) wire (Orange w/ Light Blue stripe (O/LB) on the right harness) halfway between the connector and the rubber grommet, and splice the rubber grommet end into a separate red wire, you'll have most of the export harness there. You can use male/female disconnects to join the two wores, and you'll then be able to disconnect the tail light harness easily. Now take your new bulb, splice the ground wire into the Black (BK) wire of the harness and extend the other wire through the rubber grommet. Splice that wire into the other half of the Light Green w/ Orange stripe (LG/O) wire (Orange w/ Light Blue stripe (O/LB) on the right harness) wire you cut off earlier. This part will still be wired into the harness connector. These mods should be the smallest amount of mods you need to do in order to make an export harness.
Be sure to heat-shrink and seal your new harness. Remember, the back of the tail lights AND wiring will get wet when it rains or you wash your Mustang (water runs around the trunk lid and between the tail light and chassis). Seal it up good or you'll end up with an electrical short in the future.
